Marina
Marina stands right beside spawn under a large hologram at Coconut Cove. She is the guide.
What you can ask
- How do I fish?
- Tell me about currencies
- Where do I sell?
- Show me around: tells you about the other NPCs
- I am good thanks
Her options never change as you progress.
You are not led anywhere
There is no forced tutorial and no arrow to follow. You are dropped at spawn and left to explore, Marina is simply there, hard to miss, for anyone who wants to ask.
For a fishing game that is the right call. The whole appeal is casting a line and seeing what happens, and a compulsory tutorial would get in the way of the first thing a player actually wants to do.
She is expected on every island, not just the cove.
